The Road Warriors: A street Art Tour to the East

After first and second edition, the third edition of our road trip “The Road Warriors”, Sloke and I embarked on a journey eastward. Starting from Austin, Texas, we cruised through vibrant cities like Dallas, Kansas City, Chicago, Dayton, Philadelphia, New York, Chattanooga, and finally New Orleans.

Each stop was filled with amazing encounters and unique artistic collaborations with local talents. This trip was a true adventure, sharing art and creating memories along the way.

This third edition of The Road Warriors represents a continuation of an artistic project built around travel, collaboration and spontaneous urban intervention. The road trip format is not only a physical journey across the United States but also a conceptual framework for creating street art in direct interaction with different urban environments.

Each city visited during the trip offered a distinct visual and cultural context. From the industrial atmosphere of certain Midwestern cities to the dense urban landscapes of the East Coast, the project evolved through constant adaptation to new surroundings. This variability is an essential part of the creative process behind the Road Warriors series.

Collaboration with local artists plays a central role in the project. Rather than imposing a fixed artistic language, each stop becomes an opportunity for exchange, experimentation and shared creation. These interactions influence the final works and introduce new perspectives into the visual approach of the project.

The cities included in this edition, such as Chicago, New York and New Orleans, each carry strong artistic and cultural identities. These environments contribute to shaping the aesthetic direction of the murals and interventions created during the journey. The diversity of these locations reinforces the idea that street art is deeply connected to its environment.

The Road Warriors project is also defined by its improvisational nature. Unlike studio-based work, the murals and interventions created during the trip are often produced in limited timeframes and unpredictable conditions. This immediacy gives the works a raw and energetic quality that reflects the dynamics of travel itself.

The presence of Sloke as a collaborator is fundamental to the identity of the project. The dialogue between different artistic approaches allows for the creation of hybrid visual expressions that combine distinct styles and sensibilities. This collaborative dimension strengthens the overall narrative of the Road Warriors series.

Beyond the physical artworks, the project also functions as a documentation of experiences, encounters and urban exploration. Each stop becomes part of a larger narrative that connects geography, people and artistic expression. The journey itself becomes as important as the final visual outcomes.

The Eastward trajectory of this third edition adds another layer of meaning. Moving from the South toward the East Coast of the United States reflects a transition through different cultural and visual landscapes. This progression is mirrored in the evolution of the artworks created along the route.

The Road Warriors 2023 ultimately represents a synthesis of movement, collaboration and urban creativity. It captures the essence of street art as a practice deeply rooted in travel, context and human interaction, where each city contributes to the construction of a collective artistic experience.
