AWARD DU STREET ART CHEZ ARTAQ

Here is a canvas 80x120cm i presented for street art award in Artaq Paris at l’Espace Cardin Paris.

These are themes I am accustomed to addressing in my work: letters, as well as elements of the city, the organic, and the mechanical. Thanks again to Yves Suty for this street art award and for the warm welcome!

Street art appeals to audiences of all kinds thanks to its approachable nature, freshness, eclecticism, richness, and generosity. Its language, codes, and values inspire artists from all backgrounds and disciplines— spanning fine arts, graphic arts, advertising, fashion, and design. Street art has become a significant part of our culture.

Why organize this festival in Angers, where—as you know—the city’s anti-graffiti squad tracks down and cleans up tags in record time? Quite simply because it is obvious that creative expression is worlds apart from vandalism, and I am deeply committed to making an art movement that changes our view of the world accessible to everyone.

Walls designated for artistic expression—such as the one at Le Chabada—and the decorated transformer substations created during neighborhood center workshops bear witness to this. It is therefore only natural to launch the Artaq festival in Angers, one of France’s cities most open to contemporary art forms.

Artaq’s ambition is clearly to become the first festival and competition for urban art. It originates in Angers, with the aim of spreading to major European capitals. Before heading to Paris, Brussels, Lyon, Luxembourg, Berlin, and Rome. It offers all the city’s residents a chance to discover an omnipresent, ever-evolving art form—and, in doing so, to see their city in a new light.
